Typically, high-traffic areas such the bar or food table are great for networking.
  2. You’re not there to do business. Networking is a social and business gathering but you’re not there to just sell your products or services. Make sure to establish a relationship first so you can hopefully gain long-term clients in the future.
  3. Focus on 2-3 quality interactions. Listen when you join a conversation, then show you were listening by asking follow up questions. Make it about them, because it shows you care about making a meaningful interaction.
  4. Give more than take. You’re not there to just collect the business cards, so make sure you get to know people and leave a good lasting impression about you and your business. Ask questions and how you can help the people you’re talking to rather than making it all about yourself.
  5. Make notes on business cards. If you’re having trouble remembering people, write down important facts or things they mentioned on the business card they gave you. It will help you remember next time you see each other or when having a phone follow up.
  6. Set up at least one quality follow up meeting. Do it within the first 48 hours of meeting before they completely forget about you.

Determine Your Goal 

  • Lead Generation – If your goal is to collect more email addresses for your newsletter or email promotion blast, a Facebook contest is a great tool for that.  
  • Getting new customers – Offer a new discount or promotion to those who sign up for your contest.  
  • Growing your account – Ask your entrants to like your business Facebook page when participating in the giveaway. 
  • Promoting an exclusive offer or a sale – Offer a product or service that’s already on sale as a giveaway prize to get people interested in what your business has to offer.

 

Choose a Giveaway Prize:

  • Pin the Post – Make sure your giveaway post is pinned to the top of your page for the duration of the contest and when you announce the winner. 
  • Facebook Ad and Boosting – Put some money into running an ad or boosting your giveaway post on Facebook to reach more people and to target the right audience. 
  • Social Media – If your business is active on other social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat), let your followers know about your Facebook contest as well. There’s a good chance they will be willing to enter on Facebook if they’re already active users on those platforms.

From there, you choose a Goal Type you wish to start monitoring (URL Destination, Visit Duration, Page/Visit, Event).

  4. Look into Reporting.

    Whether you want to check your own results or report to your clients, you can do so manually or get weekly/ monthly reports straight to your email. To get the most out of your data collection, we recommend covering 7 areas in your Google Analytics report – Audience Overview, Acquisition Overview, Channels, Social Network Referrals, Mobile Overview and Goals Overview.

  5. Stop Tracking Yourself.

    Assuming you’re the #1 of your website, you probably visit it every single day. To ensure the traffic you bring is not being registered in your Google Analytics reports, you can use a tool to exclude yourself from any future data collection. First, set up a filter under the “Admin” panel. If you have a static IP address, go to All Filters > Add New Filter, and then set a Predefined Filter to Exclude traffic from your given IP address.

Data Retention 

Speaking of data collection, it’s also worth mentioning the Google Analytics Data Retention controls. This feature gives you the ability to set the amount of time before user-level and event-level data stored by Google Analytics is automatically deleted from Analytics’ servers. These settings will not take effect until May 25, 2018, so you still have time to choose how long (from 14 months and up) Analytics retains data before automatically deleting it.
